Rabia border crossing between Iraq and Syria reopens

The Rabia border crossing between Iraq and Syria has been reopened after the completion of construction and maintenance works, according to the Iraqi customs authority on Monday.

According to the head of the authority, Samir Dawud, the work has been fully completed. Customs personnel, as well as the relevant border and administrative authorities, are ready to resume operations.

The crossing is considered strategically significant in economic, political, and security terms. According to officials, it is expected to be used particularly for the transport of goods as well as for the export of crude oil.

With the reopening, authorities expect an increase in economic activity and cross-border trade between the two countries.
