California Kurdish Community Center

About CKCC

We, the members of the California Kurdish Community Center have established this center to undertake cultural and educational initiatives for the promotion, preservation and flourishment of Kurdish languages, religions, beliefs, and cultures, and to create strong bonds of solidarity among the peoples of Kurdistan living in California, Kurdish-Americans, Americans and other nationalities. Our community is defined by all peoples of Kurdistan that speak a variety of languages and dialects, hold and practice a variety of beliefs, and define themselves as members of different ethnic groups, gender and sexual identities, and the friends of the peoples of Kurdistan.

The CKCC strives to guarantee the participation of all individuals and groups in a non-hierarchical structure to discuss, decide and implement its affairs. It takes the principles of mutual coexistence and solidarity as its foundational principles. Within its consensual democratic system, it emphasizes the participation of all groups, and segments of people, in particular women and youth, in its organization.
