Rojhilat Alliance: The ceasefire must not turn into a tactical opportunity

The Alliance of Political Forces of Rojhilat Kurdistan issued a written statement regarding the current situation in Iran and the declared ceasefire.

The alliance stated that the Middle East had been experiencing intense conflict and war for about 39 days and said: “The regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran came under harsh and direct attacks from the United States and Israel. As a result, on April 7, 2026, following the U.S. president’s ultimatum saying ‘If the Strait of Hormuz is not opened, they will be sent back to the Stone Age,’ the Iranian regime surrendered and was forced to accept the ceasefire.”

The statement added: “Within this framework, we present our position on the situation as follows:

First, the regime is responsible for the war and destruction. The expansion of the war and the collapse of regional security are a direct result of the failed policies of the Islamic Republic regime. This regime acts through attempts to acquire nuclear weapons and by interfering in the affairs of other countries. By continuing its policy of Islamic revolution, supporting terrorism, and prioritizing the development of missile and drone programs, it has driven the world toward instability. This war has harmed many countries and forced thousands of families to migrate.

Second, we welcome any step that will stop bloodshed and protect the lives of civilians. However, we warn that the ceasefire should not be used as a tactical opportunity for the regime to regroup and move closer to nuclear weapons. Any agreement that ignores the will of the people of Iran will only produce a temporary and dangerous peace.

Third, a ceasefire will only be meaningful if the following conditions are met:

-The complete end of the regime’s military, intelligence, organizational, and administrative interventions,
-The fundamental elimination of nuclear and missile programs,
-Adherence to human rights principles and recognition of the legitimate rights of the peoples of Iran, especially the acceptance of the Kurdish people’s right to self-determination.

Fourth, the 47-year experience of the Islamic Republic of Iran shows that this regime cannot be reformed and that peace in the region can only be achieved through fundamental change and democracy. The Kurdish freedom movement derives its existence, continuity, and strength from its own people and from the will for freedom and sovereignty; it is not the product of international wars or conflicts. Therefore, neither a ceasefire nor an agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran can prevent its continuation. No ceasefire or political agreement can block our efforts to achieve freedom and sovereignty.

Long live the just struggle of the Kurdish people!”
