On the occasion of April 4, marking Abdullah Öcalan’’s birthday, a tree-planting event was organized in the Newroz area of Hîmo district under the leadership of Kongra Star in Qamishlo. Institutions, commune members, and residents of the city participated in the event.
During the event, 77 saplings were planted in honor of Öcalan’s 77th birthday. While the trees were being planted, mothers took the floor and spoke about Öcalan’s life and struggle. The mothers stated, “His birthday is meaningful and valuable.”
After the tree planting, participants danced halay accompanied by revolutionary songs and chanted the slogan “Bê Serok Jiyan Nabe” (“Without the Leader there is no life”).
Speaking at the event, Şaha Xelîl, Co-Chair of the Coordination Council of the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM), celebrated Abdullah Öcalan’s birthday.
Şaha Xelîl stated that Abdullah Öcalan is a leader not only for the Kurdish people but for all the peoples of the world, saying: “There have been many leaders in history, but Öcalan is an international leader. His birthday is the birthday of the whole world. Yes, the Leadership may not physically be among the people, but his ideas and philosophy are within us.”
