Every 4 April means a new birth and a new struggle for us. In the age of women’s heroism, Abdullah Öcalan’s birthday represents the truth of struggle and the first step of a new beginning. In recent years, spring has shown more strongly what rebirth means. In every place where the struggle for freedom is carried out, the feeling of nature has become even more evident through Abdullah Öcalan’s struggle. As is known, 4 April, together with Abdullah Öcalan’s birthday, represents the birth of the free woman. At the same time, it demonstrates the existence of the Kurdish people and the reality of their struggle for freedom.
The village of Amara witnessed this sacred birth in 1949. Abdullah Öcalan began his struggle against the realities faced by the villagers of Amara from a very young age. The sacredness of Urfa (Riha), with the birth of Abdullah Öcalan, revealed the truth of the Kurdish people. The Kurdish people recognized, loved, and accepted such a sacred leader. This reality can neither be changed nor destroyed. The consciousness of freedom, together with the struggle for freedom, has now entered its 77th year. The reality of Öcalan represents the expression of freedom for peoples, women, and those who never give up their struggle. Öcalan’s birthday has reached its highest level through the resistance of the martyrs.
We want to see Abdullah Öcalan among people
4 April is a day when those who believe in Abdullah Öcalan’s philosophy and struggle feel its meaning deeply and strengthen their march. HPG and YJA Star guerrillas also expressed their feelings and thoughts on the occasion of Öcalan’s birthday.
HPG guerrilla Hawar Kobanê said: “First of all, on the occasion of Abdullah Öcalan’s birthday, we respectfully commemorate Mother Ûweyş. The birth of Abdullah Öcalan is a light for us. It carries the meaning of the birthday of all the peoples of the world, oppressed peoples, and peoples who seek freedom. We do not celebrate April 4 only for Abdullah Öcalan; we also celebrate it as the birthday of all oppressed, resisting, and freedom-seeking peoples. As militants of Abdullah Öcalan, we also take steps accordingly; this step is a step of freedom, resistance, and revolution.
For women involved in the struggle, Abdullah Öcalan has been a fundamental reference and the right path. Those who know the leadership and see him as the fighter of this struggle, those who read him and believe in him, do not see another line or a different life. Abdullah Öcalan has been carrying out an uninterrupted struggle in Imrali for 27 years. This creates great resistance and consciousness; it also grows love. Happy April 4 to struggling women, to peoples seeking freedom, and to those who never give up the search for truth. This year will be the year of Abdullah Öcalan’s physical freedom. We want to see Abdullah Öcalan active and among the people.”
Öcalan carried out a great struggle for women’s freedom
Beginning her words by celebrating Abdullah Öcalan’s birthday, YJA Star guerrilla Destîna Ronahî said: “Abdullah Öcalan carried out a great struggle for women’s freedom, for women to have an identity and a free will. Therefore, my call to all women is to join Abdullah Öcalan’s free thought. As a YJA Star fighter, I see living with the leadership as the most beautiful and meaningful life. The truth of the leadership represents the expression of our existence, our will, and our identity as women. The more we recognize this truth, the more we can know ourselves, our martyrs, and the universe. Our aim is to ensure and guarantee Abdullah Öcalan’s physical freedom. Once again, happy birthday to Abdullah Öcalan.”
Guerrilla Norşîn Koçer Garzan said: “The birth of Abdullah Öcalan is the birth of a new life and a new philosophy. The Kurds, who faced massacres and assimilation, returned to their roots and history with the emergence of the leadership. Through Abdullah Öcalan we came to know ourselves, our essence, and our truth. The leadership is a roadmap for all of us, because the thought it offers expresses this. As a guerrilla, from the day I joined until today, I have waited with great excitement to see the leadership.
Of course, by reading Abdullah Öcalan’s books we feel close to him, but our aim is also to see him physically. Until Abdullah Öcalan’s physical freedom is achieved, we will not give up the struggle for freedom. Together with our people, we will certainly realize free days. Once again, we celebrate the leadership’s birthday with our people throughout all four parts of Kurdistan, and I say that the leadership’s birthday is the birthday of all of us.”
