KNK welcomes the “One nation, one destiny” project launched in Southern Kurdistan

The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) issued a statement regarding the “Yek netewe, yek çarenûs” (One nation, one destiny) project initiated by a group of intellectuals in Southern Kurdistan.

In its statement on Wednesday, KNK said: “As the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK), we declare that since our establishment, our aim has been to ensure national consensus and unity across all parts of Kurdistan and within the Kurdish diaspora worldwide, seeking to achieve the goals of our people’s martyrs and laborers and the freedom of Kurdistan. In line with this objective, for 27 years we have carried out work on a national basis in all fields—political, diplomatic, social, and cultural. In this context, we have organized hundreds of regional, Kurdistan-wide, and international conferences. At the same time, our broad participation, stance, and engagement on all matters of national and vital importance have been our priority. We have continuously called on our people, parties, and organizations in Kurdistan to unite under the umbrella of the Kurdistan National Congress and to base themselves on national goals.”

‘The success of the Kurdish people depends on our unity’

The statement emphasized that KNK has developed its political and diplomatic struggle not only domestically but also internationally, especially in Europe and the United States.

The statement continued: “During the attacks on Rojava Kurdistan, we witnessed how the unity of Kurds at regional and international levels had a significant impact on our people’s cohesion and on global decision-making centers. Likewise, we have seen how the alliance among forces in Rojhilat Kurdistan has strengthened the national spirit not only there but across all of Kurdistan. Therefore, the success of the Kurdish people and the realization of their rights depend on our unity in political and strategic negotiations—especially at a time when the Middle East is going through a difficult and volatile process. In this period, Kurds can be an effective force for change, peace, and coexistence. We must understand that the fate of the Kurds is interconnected in all parts of Kurdistan and the world. This fate can only be secured through a common national stance and the organization of all democratic and national forces of our people. We consider this our struggle, our duty, and our fundamental goal.”

‘A national conference should establish a common national strategy and define a roadmap’

The statement concluded: “At the same time, we consider it important and necessary that this serves as the basis for a joint national conference for all of Kurdistan and the diaspora, with the participation of all parties, organizations, and national figures. Such a conference should establish a common national strategy, define a roadmap for the struggle for freedom, and respond to the responsibilities of the current process. As always, we in the KNK see it as our duty to strive to organize a comprehensive conference in this sensitive and complex period.”
