Bomb explosion in Daquq leaves one police officer dead

According to reports, a tip-off was received that a bomb had been placed in front of the house of Ali Jafar, one of the Hashd al-Shaabi officials, in Daquq city in Kirkuk Governorate. Police units rushed to the scene and began bomb disposal operations.

While the disposal work was ongoing, the bomb exploded, killing a Kurdish police officer named Mehdi Sebahe, who came from Daquq.

Reports say that Ali Jafar, two police officers, and a municipal employee were injured in the explosion.

The injured were taken to hospital for treatment, and an investigation into the incident has been launched.

It remains unknown who or which group placed the bomb in front of the Hashd al-Shaabi official’s house.
