During the celebrations at the foothills of the Zagros Mountains, guerrillas from the HPG (People’s Defense Forces) and YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops) lit the Newroz fire accompanied by artistic performances in an enthusiastic atmosphere.
The celebration began with a moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives. In the speeches that followed, the historical significance of Newroz was linked to resistance and the struggle for freedom, and messages of unity and struggle were conveyed.
YJA Star commander Gulan Avaşîn stated that Newroz carries the meaning of freedom and renewal for peoples, emphasizing that the struggle will continue with determination.
Gulan Avaşîn said: “We will move forward based on the leader’s stance and philosophy and reach the light of Newroz. In this Newroz, anyone who does not feel the warmth of the fire in their heart should turn inward and question their conscience. The Newroz fire that is lit must be brighter and greater than the light of the sun. We wish happy Newroz to all peoples of Kurdistan and the Middle East.”
As part of the celebrations, guerrillas staged folkloric, musical, and theatrical performances. Traditional govend dances were performed, slogans were chanted, and celebrations continued around the Newroz fire in the evening. Traditional rituals were also carried out, and the events were completed with high participation and enthusiasm.
Guerrillas who took part in the celebrations emphasized that Newroz represents freedom, resistance, and unity for them, expressing their determination to continue the struggle. Statements also highlighted that the struggle will continue in line with the goal of freedom and unity for the Kurdish people.
