Delegation from Bakur visits the family of Salih Muslim in Kobanê

A delegation of politicians from Bakur (North Kurdistan) has traveled to Rojava today to attend the funeral of PYD politician Salih Muslim. The group crossed the Akçakale border crossing in the province of Urfa on Saturday and entered Girê Spî (Tal Abyad) before moving on to Kobanê, where Muslim’s burial is scheduled to take place on Sunday.

The delegation from North Kurdistan includes DBP (Democratic Regions Party) Co-Chairs Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır, DEM Party (Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party) Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan, Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK) Co-Spokesperson Meral Danış Beştaş, Democratic Unity Initiative Co-Spokespersons Gülcan Kaçmaz and Mehmet Kamaç, DEM Party Foreign Relations Commission Co-Spokesperson Ebru Günay, DEM Party Parliamentary Group Deputy Chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit, Kurdish politician Leyla Zana, TJA activist Sebahat Tuncel, former Imrali prisoner Çetin Arkaş, and DEM Party Central Executive Committee member Derya Arslan.

The delegation of politicians visited Salih Muslim’s family and expressed their condolences.

Speaking here, DBP Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır said: “In Bakurê Kurdistan we will light the Newroz fire. At Newroz we will commemorate ‘Bavê Welat’. We will uphold his struggle and continue to follow his path.”

Welcoming the delegation, Salih Muslim’s wife, Eyşe Efendî, said: “As the family of Martyr Salih Muslim, we welcome the delegation’s visit with great appreciation. Your visit has made us very happy. As a family, we will always continue the struggle and resistance and will uphold the legacy and struggle of Martyr Salih Muslim.”
