Delegation from North Kurdistan travels to Kobanê to attend the funeral of Salih Muslim

A political delegation from North Kurdistan has traveled to Rojava to attend the funeral of PYD politician Salih Muslim. The group crossed the Akçakale border crossing in the province of Urfa on Saturday and entered Girê Spî (Tal Abyad) before moving on to Kobanê, where Muslim’s burial is scheduled to take place on Sunday.

The delegation from North Kurdistan includes DBP (Democratic Regions Party) Co-Chairs Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır, DEM Party (Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party) Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan, Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK) Co-Spokesperson Meral Danış Beştaş, Democratic Unity Initiative Co-Spokespersons Gülcan Kaçmaz and Mehmet Kamaç, DEM Party Foreign Relations Commission Co-Spokesperson Ebru Günay, DEM Party Parliamentary Group Deputy Chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit, Kurdish politician Leyla Zana, TJA activist Sebahat Tuncel, former Imrali prisoner Çetin Arkaş, and DEM Party Central Executive Committee member Derya Arslan.

Salih Muslim, a member of the Presidential Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), died due to kidney failure on Wednesday in a hospital in the province of Hewlêr (Erbil) in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). The memorial ceremony for the politician is scheduled to take place on Sunday at noon in his birthplace, the village of Şêran, where he will then be laid to rest.
