Drone crashes in residential area in Sulaymaniyah, injuring a child and damaging houses

A drone crashed in a residential area in the Sulaymaniyah province in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) on Thursday morning. According to initial reports, a child was injured and several houses sustained significant damage. The incident occurred in the Qalaw neighborhood, where the drone came down in a densely populated area.

Video footage published by the Roj News Agency captured a strong explosion immediately after the crash. According to initial information, a child was injured in the incident. At least six residential houses were also severely damaged.

Since last night, drone attacks have been reported from various regions of southern Kurdistan and are believed to be carried out by Iran’s proxy militias. In Sulaymaniyah, in addition to the Qalaw neighborhood, a facility of the 70th Unit of the Peshmerga of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) was also struck. In Hewlêr, the Divan Hotel was targeted in a drone strike.
