The Alliance of Iranian Kurdistan Political Parties, which brings together political parties in Eastern Kurdistan (Rojhilat), adopted a series of decisions regarding the alliance’s internal functioning and political objectives during its latest meeting. The alliance also officially approved its new logo and shared the historical and symbolic meaning behind it.
Topics discussed at the meeting
According to information shared on the social media account of the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK), the alliance’s meeting was held on Monday, 9 March. During the meeting, participants comprehensively evaluated the political situation in Iran and Kurdistan, the impact of the war in the region, a possible process of change, and ongoing political developments.
The discussions also focused on the following topics:
– The alliance’s internal regulations and institutional structure
– The fundamental principles guiding field activities during the transition process
– Diplomatic activities and representation in the international arena
– The periodic rotation of duties and responsibilities within the alliance
One of the key decisions taken at the meeting was the approval of the alliance’s logo.
Which historical symbol inspired the logo?
The alliance’s logo is inspired by the sun motif found on the historic Qizqapan monument located near Sulaymaniyah. The monument, situated in the area of the Cham Rezan hot springs near the village of Zarzi, dates back to the 6th century BCE.
According to historical sources, the monument belongs to a period symbolizing the peace established after long wars between the Medes and the Lydians. According to tradition, the war between the two powers ended following a solar eclipse, after which the sides reached a peace agreement.
What does the sun in the logo represent?
The sun motif at Qizqapan features 11 rays, whereas the alliance’s logo increases this number to 21. The sun figure also corresponds to the sun on the Kurdish flag and symbolizes unity and coming together around a common goal.
The white circle at the center of the logo carries two meanings:
– The solar eclipse symbolizing the peace between the Medes and the Lydians
– Collective work, unity, and solidarity
According to the art committee, the circle is also considered one of the universal symbols representing concepts such as perfection, unity, continuity, and creative power throughout human history.
For this reason, the alliance’s logo was designed both as a reference to Kurdish history and as a symbol of political unity and common struggle.
