Commander of Iraq’s Border Forces: No military force has crossed into Iran

The Commander of Iraq’s Border Forces, Mihemed Ebdulwehab, shared new information regarding the claims regarding alleged violation of the border between South Kurdistan (Bashur) and East Kurdistan (Rojhilat).

Mihemed Ebdulwehab stated: “Reports claiming that the border between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran has been violated in the border regions of Kurdistan region are not accurate. Iraq shares a 1,493-kilometer border with Iran across three provinces—Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Halabja—and the entire border is closely monitored.

Border protection is carried out in full coordination with the Peshmerga and security forces, and no movement or entry into Iranian territory has been recorded from the Kurdistan Region. Therefore, we completely reject the claims that the borders have been violated.”

Mihemed Ebdulwehab concluded: “Not only the borders with Iran, but all of Iraq’s other borders with Syria, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia are fully protected and under surveillance. Border protection teams continue their duties to prevent any violation that could harm the country’s security.”
