Ballistic missile directed toward Turkey destroyed by NATO

The Turkish Ministry of Defense stated that a ballistic missile launched from Iran, which was detected heading toward Turkey through Iraqi and Syrian airspace, was destroyed mid-air.

The Ministry said, “The ballistic munition was neutralized after being timely engaged by NATO air and missile defense elements stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean.”

The Ministry of Defense also reported that the fragment that fell in the Dörtyol district of Hatay belonged to the interceptor missile used during the neutralization of the threat. It was reported that the incident did not result in any casualties or injuries.
