Detainees in Evin Prison transferred to other prisons

The attacks launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28 have spread across the country. Casualties and material damage are steadily increasing. Prisoners have also been affected by the war.

The website Voice of Kurdish and Iranian Prisoners shared information regarding the situation of detainees in Evin Prison.

Accordingly, the regime has decided to transfer prisoners in Evin Prison to Qom Central Prison and Greater Tehran Central Penitentiary.

According to the report, political prisoners are to be transferred to Qom Prison, while other detainees will be sent to Greater Tehran Central Penitentiary. The prisoners objecting to the transfer were subjected to torture by prison authorities.

During the 12-day war between Israel and Iran last June, Evin Prison was also targeted in attacks, and 71 people lost their lives. Political prisoners were then transferred to prisons in Tehran and Qarchak.

The forced transfer of prisoners poses risks of disappearances and the severing of communication with their families.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Iran Human Rights Network reported that the United States and Israel had targeted Evin Prison in Tehran with missiles. On the first day of the attacks, a state of emergency was declared at Evin Prison, guards abandoned their posts, prison gates were kept closed, and detainees were left in dangerous conditions.

Evin Prison, located in the Evin neighborhood of the Shahran district in northern Tehran, is holds the highest number of political detainees in the country.
