Guerrilla Roza Sores Dersim: Our struggle will continue

The 27th anniversary of the February 15 International Conspiracy saw continued actions and statements by the Kurdish people in many spheres calling for the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan. Within the same framework, Kurdistan freedom guerrillas issued messages condemning and denouncing the conspiracy.

The guerrillas stressed that the guarantee of freedom and peace lies in ensuring the physical freedom of Öcalan.

Roza Sores Dersim, a guerrilla of the Free Women’s Units (YJA-Star), commemorated the martyrs who set their bodies on fire in sacrifice in response to the conspiracy against Abdullah Öcalan and said: “In the international conspiracy, the aim of the imperialist powers was to imprison the ideology and philosophy of Abdullah Öcalan. They thought that if Öcalan were captured, his ideas, the movement, and the people would also be liquidated. However, our people, with a strong stance, formed a ring of fire around Abdullah Öcalan and prevented the objective of this conspiracy from being realized.

We, as guerrillas and militants of Abdullah Öcalan, will continue this struggle without giving up. Neither our people, who are devoted to freedom, nor are we militants of Öcalan will ever accept that Abdullah Öcalan remains on Imrali Island. Even if Öcalan is free in thought, we will continue our struggle until he is physically free and among us. In the current period, what we need most is for Öcalan to be with us. From the very beginning, we have not abandoned him even for a second; we have not taken a single step back, and we will insist on this until the end. Whatever initiatives or obstacles stand before us are not important for us. We will continue our struggle by overcoming obstacles.”

Öcalan saw women’s place in history

Guerrilla Roza Sores Dersim said another aim of the conspiracy was to consolidate the place of the slavery system that began with the enslavement of women and the structure of a slave society, and to eliminate the women’s freedom struggle that stands against it. She said: “From the very beginning of the struggle led by our movement to this day, Abdullah Öcalan has created a profound set of ideas and a philosophy for the freedom of women and brought them to us. Öcalan is now recognized and embraced across the world. As women committed to Öcalan’s ideas, we will strive to be worthy of him to the end. We will deepen ourselves in Öcalan’s ideas and philosophy and put them into practice. We will make this effort and conduct our struggle on this basis. As women across the world, we need to know ourselves. We need to examine where we stand within the imperialist and capitalist system; we need to learn the extent of our position. We must know where we have stood from history to the present and wage a great struggle.

Abdullah Öcalan saw women’s place in history and worked so that women could have free thought and an identity. He sought ways for women to break free from the male-dominated system and the capitalist system. Öcalan knew very well that the enslavement of women lay at the foundation of the enslavement of society. For this reason, he stated that society cannot be liberated unless women are liberated. This applies not only to the Kurdish people but to all peoples of the world.

Until women are liberated, a free society and therefore a free life are not possible. It is for this reason that Abdullah Öcalan has waged this struggle. Through the answers he gave to the questions ‘How should women live?’ and ‘What should a free woman be like?’, he shaped this line of thought.

Abdullah Öcalan is waging a struggle to open the way for women, to broaden their horizons, to enable them to know themselves and to become themselves. As militants, we strive to bring Öcalan’s ideas and philosophy to life. Another aim of the international conspiracy was to block the path of women and to obstruct their ideas.

Yet ideas can never be imprisoned. For this reason, even if Öcalan is not physically free, he is free in thought. As women, we must deepen ourselves in Öcalan’s ideas, keep these ideas alive, and put them into practice. As women who struggle, we will certainly realize the physical freedom of Öcalan.”
