Transitional government delegation inspects oil fields in Rimêlan

An official delegation of the self-proclaimed Syrian transitional government inspected the oil fields of Rimêlan in northeastern Syria on Monday. The visit took place as part of the practical implementation of the agreement signed on 29 January with the Democratic Forces of Syria (SDF).

The delegation was accompanied by representatives of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) of the Kurdish self-administration. A day earlier, on Sunday, the group carried out a similar visit to the international airport in Qamishlo to discuss future joint control over security-sensitive facilities.

Participants in the meeting in Rimêlan include members of the Syrian Ministry of Interior, the Civil Aviation Authority, the border and airport security service, as well as the state oil company. The purpose of the visit is to discuss structures and areas of responsibility with the local administration of the Rimêlan oil fields.

The talks are part of a series of technical missions aimed at implementing the agreement of 29 January, which envisages gradual integration and coordination between institutions of the transitional government and the Autonomous Administration.
