The people of Kobanê organized a demonstration under the slogan “Our revolution is our honor; we will defend our honor” to protect the achievements of the revolution. Despite the severe siege, thousands of people took to the streets in Kobanê on Wednesday, clearly expressing their determination. Demonstrators stated that the direct support of the civilian population for the military self-defense forces will be strengthened until the rights of the Kurds are guaranteed by a constitution.
The demonstration began at Free Woman’s Square and proceeded to Şehîd Egîd Square, where, after a minute of silence, Cahid Hesen of the Movement for a Democratic Society (TEV-DEM) delivered a speech, saying: “We must defend the achievements of our revolution through our resistance and our struggle. Since January 6, a brutal attack has been launched against our achievements in order to destroy them. These attacks are carried out with the support of the fascist Turkish state and the silence of international powers. It is an attempt to erase the achievements that were won and defended with the blood of thousands of martyrs.”
Cahid Hesen stated that they will resist with all their strength and remain steadfast in order to protect the achievements of the revolution, saying: “Our people must stand behind our self-defense units—the YPJ, the YPG, and the SDF—and believe in their strength so that we can defeat the enemy and protect our achievements.”
The demonstration ended with the chanting of slogans such as “Resistance is life” and “We will defeat the enemy.”
