In a statement on Saturday evening, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that an agreement has been reached to extend the ceasefire for fifteen days, through international mediation, while dialogue with Damascus continues. The SDF affirmed their commitment to the agreement and their dedication to respecting it, which, it said, contributes to de-escalation, the protection of civilians, and the creation of the necessary conditions for stability.
SDF announced on Sunday that Damascus factions are currently launching attacks on the villages of Shekhler, Zirk west of Kobani, and Al-Jalabiya southeast of the city despite the ceasefire extension agreement.
In the meantime, reports are coming through of clashes in the mentioned areas as SDF/YPG/YPJ fighters respond to the militias’ attempts to advance.
