Kobanê People’s Council: We will continue to fight until we achieve the objectives of our revolution

The Kobanê People’s Council made a statement regarding the siege of the city by Turkish-backed mercenaries and ISIS and HTS militias aligned with the Syrian transitional government. The statement remarked that mercenaries have been imposing a heavy siege on Kobanê for days, leading to a humanitarian crisis.

The Council pointed out that the attacks today coincided with the 11th anniversary of Kobanê’s liberation from ISIS, adding, “YPG and YPJ fighters led the way in wiping ISIS off the map through their heroism. Kurdish cities, which fought against the most brutal gangs in full view of the world, are now left to face these gangs alone. Today’s attacks are no different from those carried out in 2014. Therefore, the international community bears a great responsibility. Our people continue their resistance against these brutal attacks in the spirit of the Kobanê resistance.

Condemning the ongoing aggression, the Council said, “These attacks will not deter us from our goal. We will achieve the objectives of our revolution. Our people in Kurdistan and around the world must not abandon this resistance.”

The Council called on the international community to take action to lift the siege and work toward a political solution.
