Responding to the general mobilization declared in support of the resistance in Rojava, a group of Yazidi young people from Shengal moved to the town of Tirbespiyê in the Cizîrê Canton. The young people said that they stand alongside the fighters in Rojava.
Speaking on behalf of the group, one of the young people made the following statement: “First of all, we commemorate all our martyrs with respect and gratitude and wish a speedy recovery to our wounded. We, the youth of Shengal, are here. We have come to stand shoulder to shoulder with the YPJ and YPG fighters and to defend Rojava. The people of Shengal salute the revolution of the people of Rojava. We are also part of this struggle. There is more than one group that has come from Shengal.”
The young people added: “In 2014, the people and fighters of Rojava responded to Shengal’s call for help and saved us from genocide. Today, we see that it is time to fulfill our responsibility towards this land, this people, and these fighters. We are here to stand with you until the end. May the strength of the people of Rojava and Kurdistan endure, with their fighters, their heroism, and their pioneers. We are with you until our last breath. As long as a single drop of blood remains in us, we will not leave the lands of Rojava. For us, the lands of Rojava and Shengal are one. For every Yazidi, wherever they may be in the world, Rojava and Shengal are one.”
