The Autonomous Administration of the Euphrates Canton has declared general mobilization. In a statement on Monday, it called on the people of northern and eastern Syria to rise up against the ongoing attacks and defend the achievements of the revolution.
The appeal comes against the backdrop of intense attacks by the so-called Syrian army and allied militias loyal to Turkey. According to the cantonal administration, Damascus is waging a “large-scale war against northern and eastern Syria,” violating existing agreements—including the agreement of March 10—and systematically committing crimes against the civilian population. “The Syrian Democratic Forces are selflessly resisting these brutal attacks on all fronts and protecting the region and the achievements of its people.”
At the same time, the Autonomous Administration of the Euphrates Canton warned against the political intentions of the Islamist regime in Damascus: “The government is trying to pit the various social components of Syria against each other and deepen divisions in the interests of foreign powers.”
“Everyone must organize themselves”
In the statement, the autonomous administration called on all people in the region to join the self-defense structures and to arm and organize themselves in accordance with the requirements of the current war situation. “We call on our entire population to rise up, participate in the general mobilization, and rally around the defense forces that protect the existence and identity of the region.”
The Euphrates autonomous administration described the current phase as “historic, sensitive, and extremely dangerous.” The threat of a return of the terrorist organization ISIS is real, and it is up to the population to stand united against this development, the statement said and added: “Just as we defeated terror in Kobanê, we will achieve victory this time with the same spirit and determination.”
Appeal to the world: Assume international responsibility
Finally, the Autonomous Administration of the Euphrates Canton called upon the international community to break its silence: “The international community has a moral responsibility toward a people that has suffered thousands of deaths and injuries in the fight against terrorism. Direct intervention is necessary when the region faces an existential threat.”
The statement ended with an appeal to all people in Kurdistan and around the world to support the struggling people of Rojava.
