The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) issued a statement regarding the withdrawal of their forces from Deir Hafer and Maskana in accordance with an agreement reached through international mediation, and the violation of that agreement by the Syrian Transitional Government.
The statement said: “The agreement was signed between SDF forces and the Syrian Transitional Government under the mediation of international powers. It was violated early in the morning before our SDF and YPJ forces had fully withdrawn from Deir Hafer and Maskana. The Damascus government, through gangs affiliated with the Turkish state, sought to occupy the Tebqa and Raqqa cantons and then advance toward the Jazira region. Our forces have so far responded to all attacks within the framework of legitimate self-defense and have pushed the attackers back. The gangs have so far suffered numerous casualties and injuries.
If the gangs affiliated with the Damascus government do not stop these attacks and continue them, we, as YPJ forces, will respond with modern tactics and capabilities in order to protect all the gains of the Revolution of Humanity.
All our forces are firmly positioned at all fronts with great determination to halt any kind of attack, and are ready to advance if necessary.”
