Autonomous Administration: Do not fall for provocations, protect your unity

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria issued an official statement regarding the attacks in the region by armed groups linked to the Syrian transitional government. While calling for an end to actions that threaten civilian security, the Administration also reminded the guarantor powers of their responsibility to prevent violations.

In the statement published on the Autonomous Administration’s official website, it was emphasized that the attacks by gangs affiliated with the transitional government in Damascus jeopardize both security and stability in the region. The statement noted that yesterday’s agreement had been violated, recalling that the purpose of the agreement was to reduce tensions and ensure the safety of civilians.

Stating that the Syrian transitional government bears direct responsibility for the attacks, the Autonomous Administration said: “These attacking groups are under the government’s control both politically and militarily. The current tension is a direct result of this violation.” It was also noted that the ongoing violations have led to loss of life and increased suffering among the population.

The statement addressed the relevant parties with the following call: “Implement all the provisions of the agreement, halt all military actions that threaten civilian safety, and restore calm to the region.”

The Autonomous Administration also called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities: “The international community, particularly the guarantors of the agreement, must make effective efforts to prevent violations, protect the lives of the Syrian people, and avert potential crises.”

Addressing the Syrian people in general and especially the youth of North and East Syria, the Autonomous Administration called for unity, sayig: “Do not fall into the traps of certain forces and media outlets seeking to drag Syria into a new cycle of war; act with a sense of national responsibility.”

At the end of the statement, the Autonomous Administration emphasized that its aim has always been to defend dialogue, peace, and the safety of the people; to build a united and democratic Syria; and to uphold equality based on justice and equal citizenship.
