The Dialogue and Cooperation Center of Kurdish Parties in Eastern Kurdistan issued a statement regarding their meeting held in support of the Iranian people who have been staging mass protest demonstrations across the country for ten days.
According to the statement, political parties in Eastern Kurdistan held a high-level meeting on January 5, 2026 and evaluated the political situation in Iran and the changes in Kurdistan.
The parties expressed support for the uprising and struggle of the Iranian people and components throughout the country and decided to carry out joint and effective work to consolidate the protests against the Iranian regime.
The opening speech of the meeting was delivered by Mistefa Hicrî, Secretary General of the Iranian Kurdistan Democratic Party and Head of the Dialogue and Cooperation Center of the Kurdish Parties in Eastern Kurdistan.
Hicrî pointed out that the duties and responsibilities falling on the shoulders of the Eastern Kurdistan parties are even more important in the current situation. The meeting continued with the views and assessments of the participants.
“The meeting assessed the wave of protests, strikes, and demonstrations against the Islamic Republic that have unfolded as a result of decades of corruption, instability, and policies targeting the people. The parties condemned the bloody crackdowns on protests in Kermanshah, Ilam, Malekshah, and Lorestan, carried out directly by Khomeini’s order, and extended their condolences to the families and friends of those who were killed in the recent demonstrations. Highlighting the necessity of unity and cooperation in all regions of Iranian Kurdistan, the parties also decided to take serious and practical steps against the Islamic Republic in response to its hostile and systematic policy against the Kurdish movement,” the Dialogue and Cooperation Center said.
The parties attending the meeting decided to increase efforts to prepare a draft of the principles of cooperation between political parties and to determine a roadmap to strengthen the Kurdish political and national movement in Iran.
