In a statement on Monday, SDF Media Center announced the death of one of their fighters. According to the statement, Gîvara Gabar, whose real name is Ehmed Îbrahîm, lost his life while defusing an enemy mine at the Tishrin Dam in northern Syria on November 30.
The SDF honored their fallen member from Kobanê as “an experienced fighter who participated in numerous operations against terrorism, the Turkish occupation, and its affiliated militias over many years”. He came from a patriotic family with a long revolutionary history, many other members of which had also joined the SDF.
The SDF stated that Gabar stood up for the values of the SDF with courage, discipline, modesty, and moral integrity. His death, it said, has caused deep sorrow among his comrades, his family, and his community, but at the same time has strengthened their resolve to continue on the path they have chosen.
“We will honor the memory of our friend Gîvara and continue to pursue the goals for which he fought,” the statement said.
