Citizens from the Herki tribe staged a protest today in front of the Lanaz Petroleum Company, which is owned by the Barzani family and located on Guwêr Road in Hewlêr (Erbil) province in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).
More than 400 people blocked the road in front of the company building.
The company’s armed guards opened fire on the protesters. According to initial reports, one person was killed and another was injured as a result of the shooting.
