KDP General Chairman Masoud Barzani arrived in Cizre district of Şırnak to attend the 4th International Melayê Cizîrî Symposium organized by Şırnak University.

Speaking at the symposium, Barzani emphasized the importance of Cizre, saying, “Meleyê Cizîrî (Kurdish scholar who lived in the 16th century) has always been very important to us. We read about his life and researched him. He spent his 70 years in the pursuit of science. He was of the highest caliber. His importance to us is different.” Providing information about Meleyê Cizîrî’s works, Barzani quoted Meleyê Cizîr and noted that no one else could have written these words.
Barzani remarked that he was happy with the Peace and Democratic Society Process, saying, “I thank Erdoğan and the people of Turkey. They opened the door to peace. I thank Mr. Öcalan for taking important steps. We are ready to support this process.”
Following the speech, the program continued with the recitation of odes. After the recital, Barzani visited the Medreseya Sor and Mem û Zîn tomb.
The symposium, consisting of 17 sessions, will conclude in the evening.
