Members of the DEM Party’s Imrali Delegation, Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar, visited prisons in Edirne and Kandıra to discuss the ‘process’ with imprisoned politicians Selahattin Demirtaş, Figen Yüksekdağ, Selçuk Mızraklı, and Semra Güzel.
In a written statement about the prison visits, Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar said: “We visited our friends Selahattin Demirtaş, Figen Yüksekdağ, Selçuk Mızraklı, and Semra Güzel in the prisons of Edirne and Kandıra. Their morale is high, and they are in good health.”
The statement continued: “The meetings mainly focused on sharing information and exchanging views regarding the peace process. Dear Selahattin Demirtaş emphasized his full support for the process and expressed his readiness to contribute in every possible way to ensure the success of the process and the establishment of peace and democracy.
Dear Figen Yüksekdağ also stated that she maintains her hope for building peace and a democratic society and that her support and contributions to this goal will continue strongly.”
The statement added: “There is no justification for keeping our friends, whose innocence has also been legally established, imprisoned any longer. This blatant injustice must be immediately rectified. It is our urgent demand and expectation that our friends be allowed to join the march for peace and democracy under free conditions.
In these highly productive meetings, our friends conveyed their warmest greetings and heartfelt affection to everyone whose heart beats for freedom, peace, and democracy.”
