The General Command of the Internal Security Forces said that two of its members, Çiçek Efrîn (Nûrî Mistefa) and Nûrî Hemokan, fell as martyrs while resisting attacks by the Syrian Interim Government forces on Aleppo’s Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods.
The statement said: “Our comrade Nuri Mistefa (Çîçek Efrîn) fell as a martyr on October 6 while fulfilling his duty to protect the residents of the Şêxmeqsûd and Eşrefiyê neighborhoods. Our comrade Nuri Hemokan was seriously wounded in the same clashes and was martyred on October 10. Both of our comrades, as members of the Aleppo Internal Security Forces, took part in the heroic resistance against the attacks by armed groups and fell as martyrs in that struggle.”
The statement added: “At a time when our entire region is undergoing a significant process of renewal, our forces in Aleppo are working actively and tirelessly to ensure the safety and stability of our people and the region. Since the beginning of the clashes and the fall of the Baath regime, a new path toward stability has opened for our country and our people. Although our forces continue to adhere to the agreements between the Autonomous Administration and the Damascus government, the armed groups based in Damascus are violating these agreements. These groups have been constructing positions and barriers around Aleppo’s Kurdish neighborhoods in an attempt to besiege our people. During this period, when our people protested these actions, armed groups attacked civilians. Our forces responded to the attacks to protect the civilians, and in this resistance, two of our comrades fell as martyrs.”
The statement continued: “Our comrade Nuri Mistefa, known as Çiçekli, was born in Aleppo into a patriotic family. At the beginning of the revolution, in 2014, he joined the Internal Security Forces and served for 11 years in the defense of his people. He took part in many battles and operations. Comrade Nuri made great contributions as a leading defender of the values and dignity of the people of Aleppo, earning a unique place in the struggle.
Our comrade Nuri Hemokan was born in the city of Afrin into a patriotic family. From a young age, he wanted to be part of the revolutionary movement and joined the Internal Security Forces with that goal. Since 2012, the cities of Afrin and Aleppo have embraced the revolution on a large scale and have fought with great determination. The spark of the Rojava Revolution ignited in this region continues today with all its strength and passion in the example of our two devoted and courageous comrades.
As the Command of the Internal Security Forces, we commemorate all the martyrs of the revolution through the memory of our two fallen comrades. We extend our condolences to their families and pledge to honor their sacrifices and fulfill their aspirations for the freedom of our people.”
