Kurdish tradesman shot dead by Iranian police in Piranshahr

Chiya (Khedr) Ahmadnezhad, a Kurdish tradesman from Piranshahr, was shot dead after police opened fire on his car without warning, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has reported.

In the early hours of 20 September, law enforcement officers pursued Ahmadnezhad’s vehicle on the road from Piranshahr to the village of Ziveh. Although he was not carrying any foreign goods, officers repeatedly fired at the car.

Ahmadnezhad, a father of three, was hit by three bullets and died instantly. The police later searched his vehicle before leaving his body at the scene.

So far, no members of the police patrol involved have been detained in connection with the killing.
