American feminist Harriet Fraad expresses support for Öcalan’s call

American feminist psychotherapist Dr. Harriet Fraad sent a message of support for Abdullah Öcalan’s February 27 “Call for Peace and a Democratic Society”. The message was conveyed to the public through the DEM Party.

Harriet Fraad emphasized that the Kurdish people, like all people, have the right to live in peace, stating, “The only thing being demanded is basic human decency, and this is not a ‘radical’ demand. In the name of humanity, recognize the dignity of the Kurds.”

Who is Harriet Fraad?

Born in 1941, Dr. Harriet Fraad was among the founders of the Women’s Liberation Movement in 1968 and was recognized as one of the pioneers of Second Wave Feminism. The wife of Marxist economist Richard Wolff, Fraad also contributed to the founding of the Rethinking Marxism initiative. Currently living in New York, she is known for her work on women’s liberation and social peace.
