Work underway to establish committees for the Aleppo agreement

The General Assembly of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods of Aleppo has initiated the process of establishing committees to facilitate negotiations with the Syrian Transitional Government within the framework of the April 1 Agreement.

According to information provided to ANHA by General Assembly sources, six expert committees will be formed to resolve issues in the areas of health, education, security, services, water, and electricity.

In addition, a central committee will be established to monitor the implementation of the agreement and remove obstacles. Each committee will consist of 5 members.

Sources stated that this initiative was launched specifically to implement Articles 9 and 10 of the agreement. These articles provide for the establishment of committees in both neighborhoods and the creation of a coordination committee to facilitate transportation between Aleppo and the North-East Syria regions.

It was reported that the work began following the latest meeting between representatives of North and East Syria and the Syrian Transitional Government on September 4.

The agreement signed on April 1 consists of 14 articles covering the strengthening of coexistence, the protection of neighborhood residents, the withdrawal of armed forces, and the organization of internal security. The agreement also stipulates that the establishment of committees is a fundamental condition for the implementation of the process.
