Newroz reception in Vienna Municipality

A Newroz reception was organized in the metropolitan city hall of Vienna, Austria’s capital. The Austrian Democratic Kurdish Society Federation (FEY-KOM) hosted the reception.

Austrian politicians and leaders from non-governmental organizations attended the reception hosted in honour of FEY-KOM, which conducts diplomatic activities in Austria and celebrated Newroz.

Şafak Akçay, Asrit Rompold, Green Party city council member Niki Kunrat, Swedish Ambassador Anita Markovic, Asya Sel of AK-Arbeiter Kamma Wien, David Berara from the Vienna Integration Ministry, Micheil Denar from Asul in not, Roja Gardi from the Austrian Integration Fund, and political expert Tomas Schimidinger attended the reception.

Cina Ahmadi from FEY-KOM, who gave the opening statement, thanked everyone for their support of this annual reception.

Expressing that Newroz has come to represent the Kurdish people’s independence today, Ahmadi stated that it will continue to symbolize Kurdish freedom struggle from now on.

Ahmadi said, “The righteous battle of the Kurds has been disregarded and abandoned by other world countries, particularly Europe, but the Kurdish liberation movement continues to grow stronger and stronger.”

Other speakers wished the peoples of the Middle East, particularly Kurdistan, independence and peace. The reception ended with halay dances.

Kurds and their supporters have also been invited to the Newroz event, which will begin at 14.00 on Saturday, March 26 at the address “Gasometer Guglgasse 1110 Wien.”
