Turkish soldiers torture eight citizens under detention in Amed

Turkish troops launched an operation in the Yazı (Hewre) neighbourhood in Diyarbakir’s Kocaköy district yesterday evening. It is reported that soldiers surrounded the neighbourhood and threatened the residents by saying ‘surrender or we will open fire on you’. The soldiers later started to search the houses one by one.

Following the searches that lasted for around three and a half hours, Saliha Narin, Rojda Narin, Ubeydullah Narin, Veysi Narin and 4 other people whose names could not be learned were detained.

It is reported that soldiers tortured and threatened the detainees. Rojda Narin was tortured in front of her two children aged 8 and 13.

The detainees were taken to the District Gendarmerie Station.
