Nûda Sason came from Batman province and witnessed the brutal crackdown on the Kurdish people as a child in the 1990s. In order to become independent as a woman, she began studying in Kars. During her studies she became more and more aware of the assimilation policies and at the same time of her Kurdish identity. She met other Kurdish activists and this meeting was a turning point in her life. At first she got involved in popular work and later joined the guerrillas. After the ISIS attack on Shengal and Kobanê, she spent a long time in these areas and was wounded several times. Most recently, she fought as one of the commanders of YJA Star in Serhad.

Mîraz Arî was born in Karayazı, Erzurum. In his family environment there were martyrs of the Kurdish liberation struggle and thus he knew the PKK already as a child. He became active in the youth movement and eventually joined the guerrillas because he felt that working in the civilian sector was not enough in the face of the murderous actions of the Turkish state. After three years as a guerrilla in Serhad, he went to South Kurdistan to further his military and ideological education. He then fought against the Turkish invasion in Heftanîn and finally returned to Serhad.

Xwînrêj Teyî was born in Silopi, Şırnak. His family was patriotic and belonged to the Teyî tribe. His older brother died in the Kurdish liberation struggle. Xwînrêj joined the guerrillas on Mount Gabar and fought there for a while until he went to the Medya Defense Zones for military and ideological training. Then he fought in Heftanîn for a long time and became a commander. Finally, at his own request, he went back north to Serhad.

Xwînrêj Şiyar was born in Çukurca, Hakkari and grew up under the constant pressure of the Turkish military presence. There were also several martyrs in his family environment. These circumstances led him to the guerrillas. During the massive attacks by the Turkish state in 2015, he was in the Ertuş area and participated in numerous actions that resulted in high casualties for the occupying army. After that, he participated in ideological and military training programs and developed into a professional commander. At his own request, he went back to North Kurdistan. Near Patnos, he was ambushed by the enemy and responded to the call to surrender with a bold attack. A battle ensued in which he fell as a martyr.

Azad Güler was born in Muş and grew up in a family that had been close to the Kurdish liberation movement since the 1990s. For various reasons, he lived in western Turkey for a while and eventually joined the guerrillas. He underwent ideological and military training in southern Kurdistan and then went to the north, where he was ambushed together with Xwînrêj and fought until his last breath.

HPG paid tribute to the struggle of Nûda, Mîraz, Xwînrêj Teyî, Xwînrêj Şiyar and Azad as leading figures for the Serhad region and expressed their condolences to their families and the Kurdish people.
