KON-MED calls for participation in Düsseldorf rally on August 14

KON-MED, the largest umbrella organization of the Kurdish Diaspora in Germany, has released a written statement concerning the Düsseldorf rally to be held on August 14 against the invasion and genocidal attacks of the Turkish state.

“This is the day to protect Kurdistan with the spirit of the August 15 Resistance everywhere,” the statement said.

The statement noted that the genocidal attacks of the Turkish state have intensified recently, and that civilians have been killed and chemical weapons have been used by the Turkish army.

‘TURKEY SEEKS TO INVADE ALL KURDISTAN’

The statement by KON-MED continued:

“As of April 2021, the fascist Turkish state launched a large-scale military operation in the Mêtina, Zap and Avasin regions in South Kurdistan (kr: Bashur) in discordance with international law. The Kurdish Freedom Guerrilla is continuing their resistance in the mountains of Kurdistan with the spirit of the August 15 resistance against this invasion operation which has been going on for almost 4 months. These attacks by the fascist Turkish state are carried out to invade not only Bashur, but also the entire Kurdistan.

In the meantime, fascist Turkish forces are bombing the Maxmur refugee camp with fighter jets, targeting the civilian population. The international law of war is seriously violated.

The fascist Turkish army hopes to complete what the ISIS terrorism failed to achieve by constantly bombing the sacred mountains of Shengal (Sinjar), the homeland of our Yazidi people. The fascist Turkish state recruits jihadist mercenaries and embraces the legacy of ISIS.

This war is also fiercely being waged in North Kurdistan. The ongoing state terror against Kurdish society and political institutions, particularly the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), continues unabated. State-sponsored proxies killed Deniz Poyraz in İzmir on June 17, seven people from the same family in Konya on July 30, and 4 members of the Zêdan Xelef El Isa family living in the Sefawiyê village of Ain Issa.

‘NO KURD WILL FORGET AND FORGIVE THE BETRAYAL’

No Kurd will ever forget and forgive the KDP’s betrayal, acting in partnership with the AKP-MHP fascist groups.

However, the Kurdish people are not helpless against all these attacks. The Kurds have a leader who fends off attacks with magnificent resistance, the guerrillas who selflessly defend Kurdistan in the mountains, and friends with hearts as big as mountains.

‘FOR THE SAKE OF HUMANTY’

It is a human duty of all democrats and revolutionaries, especially all Kurdish people, to participate in the Düsseldorf march on August 14, organized by the ‘Defend Kurdistan’ Initiative, to protest all these massacres and attacks of the AKP-MHP fascism. It is the day to protect Kurdistan with the spirit of the August 15 Resistance everywhere.”
