The Islamic Republic of Iran continued its attacks on forces from Rojhilat (East Kurdistan) in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) on Friday. Several missile and drone strikes targeted civilian structures of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) and its Peshmerga units in the greater Hewlêr (Erbil) area.
In an attack on the Cejnekan (Jejnikan) refugee camp, Peshmerga fighter Shahin Azarbarzin was killed, while his father, Nader Azarbarzin, was seriously injured. Another strike hit PDKI units in the mountainous region of Balîsan. Female Peshmerga fighters Neda Miri and Samira Allayari were killed, and two other fighters were wounded as a result.
In the evening, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard continued its attacks, targeting a PDKI base in Girdêçal (Girde Chal) with several drones. The attack took place at 22:25 local time and caused extensive material damage. The PDKI condemned the wave of attacks as “coordinated terrorist attacks.”
During the approximately 40-day war between the United States, Israel, and Iran, Tehran repeatedly bombed positions and camps of East Kurdistan’s opposition parties in the KRI. These attacks have continued even after the implementation of the two-week ceasefire between the warring parties.
