Kurdistan: A victim of Iran’s show of power

Despite ceasefire announcements between Iran and the United States, as well as between Israel and Lebanon, the reality in Kurdistan is very different.

According to Rojhelat Info, “the war against Kurdish parties has not stopped; instead, it continues through missile and drone attacks. In recent weeks and months, these attacks have targeted the positions of Iranian Kurdish parties and even the defensive forces of the Kurdistan Region, especially around Erbil and Sulaymaniyah. As a result, at least 18 people, including Peshmerga fighters, security personnel, and civilians, have been killed.”

These ceasefires have never included Kurdistan; it is as if Kurdistan is deliberately left out of every agreement. While there is talk of reducing tensions in the region, in reality the same long-standing policy continues: the systematic repression of Kurds through missiles, drones, and targeted attacks.

What is called a “ceasefire” has no real meaning for Kurdistan, because this region is constantly treated as a place to apply pressure and show power. This reality once again shows that the policy is not peace, but the continuation of repression in Kurdistan.
