After a six-year closure, the Til Temir – Serêkaniyê road has been reopened to traffic under the supervision of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Asayish (Internal Security) Forces.
SDF commander Serdan Heleb, Asayish commander Mehmûd Xelîl Elî, and a delegation from the transitional government were present at the opening.
Speaking here, Mehmûd Xelîl Elî said that all checkpoints along the route would be removed and replaced with a joint, temporary checkpoint.
The Til Temir – Serêkaniyê road had been closed during the occupation of Serêkaniyê by the Turkish state and affiliated groups in October 2019, and the local population had been unable to use it for the past six years.
