A delegation from the Kobanê Administration and political figures had visited Aleppo province a few days ago, and Almaz Romî was officially appointed as Mayor of Kobanê by Aleppo Governor Ezam Xerîb.
With the participation of the temporary government delegation from Aleppo province, members of the Kobanê Municipal Executive Council, and representatives of the Kobanê Administration, Almaz Romî assumed office as Mayor of Kobanê, while Muslim Ebdulxenî was appointed as her deputy.
After the handover ceremony, Kobanê Mayor Almaz Romî delivered a speech in front of the Kobanê People’s Municipality building. Romî said: “Within the framework of the January 29 Agreement, institutions will be integrated with government institutions. Today in Kobanê we have launched the process of integrating the institutions of the Kobanê Municipality into the General People’s Municipality. For this purpose, I held a meeting with the Aleppo Governor two days ago and was appointed as Mayor of Kobanê.”
Romî continued: “Today we have started our duties as Mayor of Kobanê. In order to provide better service to our people, we have established the Kobanê Municipal Executive Council.”
Almaz Romî concluded by promising that they would present a better and more positive picture, always remain at the service of the people, and meet their needs.
The members of the Executive Council are: Mehmûd Remî, Osman Mistefa Mihemed, Yara Bozan Ebdî, Narîn Boz, and Ehmed Mihemed Şêxo.

The life and political background of Almaz Romî, who has taken office as Mayor of Kobanê, has drawn attention.
Born in 1989 in the village of Helincê in Kobanê, Almaz Romî is married and the mother of two children. She graduated from the Sports Academy of the University of Aleppo. After the July 19, 2012 Revolution, she worked in the Coordination of the Kobanê Teachers’ Union and served as a teacher.
In 2013, she was appointed Co-Chair of the Youth and Sports Committee. In 2017, she became Deputy Head of the Women’s Committee, and in 2018 she took part in the Kongra Star Coordination.
In 2020, Almaz Romî served as Public Relations Director of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), and in 2024 she became Co-Chair of the Ecology Committee.
