PJAK’s Abdanan: We have not received any aid or weapons from the US

In an interview with BBC Persian, Rêwar Abdanan, a member of the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) Assembly, rejected allegations of receiving weapons from the US.

Evaluating his organization’s approach to the current process, he stated that PJAK is engaged in struggle against the Islamic Republic of Iran within the framework of organization and legitimate self-defense. “We do not want Kurdistan to turn into a general battlefield. PJAK has a comprehensive program for all of Iran,” he added.

Speaking about relations with foreign countries, Abdanan said, “We have no relations with any intelligence agency. We are trying to establish dialogue with those who seek to change the Iranian regime. However, we believe this is only possible if society is placed at the center of the discussion. Our main aim is to protect society.”

Addressing claims that Kurdish forces have received weapons from the US, Abdanan said, “We have not received any aid, weapons, or military equipment from America. Our forces have their own preparations in line with their own project. PJAK guerrillas have drawn on the experiences of the past century to protect their people, identity, and land. We also make use of weapons we produce ourselves.”

Abdanan pointed to the Alliance of Iranian Kurdistan Political Parties, emphasizing that unity among Kurdish parties should represent the voice of the Kurds. He also highlighted the importance of forming a joint military force against threats.

Rêwar Abdanan stressed that their forces in Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq) do not pose a threat, as is proved by their fight against ISIS.

“Wherever Kurdistan is attacked, Kurds will go there to protect the people,” he underlined.
