KJAR calls for urgent action against executions in Iran

In in a statement regarding the increasing death sentences in Iran, the East Kurdistan Free Women’s Community (KJAR) said that executions are being used as a tool to suppress demands for freedom. The organization called on the international community to take action to halt the executions, emphasizing in particular the situation of women political prisoners.

In its statement on Wednesday, KJAR noted that death penalties in Iran have become part of political repression, aiming to instill fear in society and suppress demands for freedom. Still, executions have not been able to stop the struggle for freedom; on the contrary, they have strengthened social resistance, it underlined.

KJAR drew attention to the situation of women political prisoners, who, it said, face repression and torture due to their demands for human rights and freedom. It underlined that women are at the forefront of the struggle against oppression in Iran and have become symbols of resistance.

According to field data obtained despite the conflict and severe internet restrictions, around 30 people have been executed in recent days, KJAR noted, adding that those executed were deprived of fundamental human rights and gave their statements under torture.

KJAR stressed that at a time when global attention is focused on the conflict in the region, executions in Iran are part of a policy seeking to render human rights violations invisible.

The statement concluded with a call to human rights organizations, civil society groups, and the international public to take immediate action to stop the executions.
