As part of the implementation of the agreement reached between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the transitional government in Damascus on January 29, a meeting was held between the SDF Commander-in-Chief, Mazloum Abdi, and Ziyad El Ayîş, representative of the transitional government presidency. Mahmoud Khalil, a member of the General Command of Asayish (Internal Security Forces), also attended the meeting.
According to a report published on the official website of the Heseke Asayish Forces, the focus of the meeting in Heseke city on Saturday was the mechanisms for the safe return of those displaced from Afrin, Serêkaniyê, and Girê Spî to their regions, as well as the necessary security conditions for this return.
“Steps toward the integration of service and educational institutions in order to strengthen security and stability and to improve the services provided to the public were discussed,” the statement said.
The completion of the prisoner exchange process was also addressed during the meeting. Accordingly, an agreement was reached on releasing a new group of detainees this week within a regular and secure framework.
Finally, it was emphasized that this meeting constitutes a step toward strengthening agreements on the ground and transforming them into public services and lasting security.
