Guerrillas of the East Kurdistan Defense Units (YRK) and the Women’s Defense Forces (HPJ), together with members of PJAK (Kurdistan Free Life Party) and the East Kurdistan Free Women’s Community (KJAR), organized a celebration on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of the founding of the PJAK and the 77th birthday of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The event began with a military ceremony and continued with speeches which highlighted the importance of Öcalan’s ideas for the political development in Rojhilat (East Kurdistan). The founding of PJAK was described as an expression of a struggle for freedom and a societal new beginning, the impact of which has now spread across all of Iran.
‘Our forces are ready to defend and organize the people’
Following the military ceremony, PJAK Co-Chair Peyman Viyan said, “PJAK’s struggle has today spread across Iran. Precisely for this reason, the eyes of the whole world are on our party, PJAK. Leader Apo’s (Abdullah Öcalan’s) idea of freedom has given new life to the Kurdish people in Rojhilat Kurdistan. Today, everyone is following PJAK’s strength, its level of organization, and its style of struggle in this process. For this reason, the greatest fear of the Iranian regime is the power and organization of the people. They fear the ideas and philosophy that PJAK will organize among the people.”
Referring also to the Israel–US–Iran war, Peyman Viyan continued: “The Iranian regime has faced attacks as a result of its understanding of power. In reality, what weakened the Iranian regime to this extent was the power of the people, their organization, and their struggle, because what will bring an end to this regime is the organized power of the people. In this conflict process, the most important thing for us is to guarantee the rights and status of our people in Rojhilat Kurdistan. Our forces are ready to defend and organize the people. We are the greatest and strongest force that will take the lead in every situation and at all times. PJAK is the power of the people, because it was born from the people and has grown and spread among the people. Today as well, PJAK relies on its people in its struggle.”
‘We are determined to lead our people to victory’
Reiterating that as a party they would stand by the people under all circumstances, Peyman Viyan emphasized, “We continue our preparations to protect our people in every field. Today is the time for a free Kurd, a free identity, and a Kurdistan that governs itself within a democratic Iran. Only this will stop the war in the region and bring stability and peace to the Middle East.”
Peyman Viyan concluded by stating that in this process, every people and force that is prepared in political, social, and defense fields will certainly achieve success: “For this very reason, we are determined to lead our people to victory. The YRK and HPJ, as devoted forces of the people, are ready to defend their people in every possibility and in every field. Our people should be at ease and organize themselves and be prepared. There is a devoted and professional force that is fully determined for the freedom of its people. Every comrade who is ready to sacrifice their life under all conditions is prepared to organize and lead the people. In this process, we are moving toward a new era of struggle and victory.”
After the speech, the freedom guerrillas continued the celebration event with great enthusiasm. A group of guerrillas performed songs, followed by a folklore group that added color to the celebration with Kurdish dances.
