6th Congress of the Shengal Democratic Autonomous Council concludes

The 6th Ordinary Congress of the Shengal Democratic Autonomous Council (MXDŞ) on Saturday concluded with the elections.

During the congress, comprehensive discussions were held on political, social, and organizational issues. Decisions were made to renew the Social Contract, clarify the perspective of democratic integration, and strengthen the organization of communes. Additionally, the two-year work plan and activities of the Shengal People’s Council were determined.

As a result of votes by 250 delegates, Xoxê Dexîl and Azad Hisên were elected as co-chairs of the Shengal People’s Council, while Besê Xelef and Hisên Sedo were elected as deputy co-chairs.

Speaking after the elections, Co-Chair Azad Hisên dedicated the congress to all martyrs in the person of Dijwar Feqîr, stating: “We honor the efforts and labor of everyone who made it possible to hold this congress since the establishment of the Shengal Founding Council in 2015. From the day the genocide was carried out until today, we have paid a heavy price and lost many martyrs. We will continue on this path until the unity and freedom of the Yazidi community are secured. We celebrate this congress in memory of the martyrs, Leader Apo, (Abdullah Öcalan) and the fighters.”

Co-Chair Xoxê Dexîl stated that they will fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to them by the people and work to realize the goals of the martyrs.

Following the elections, the new administrators took the oath of office in front of the 51 members of the Shengal People’s Council and officially assumed their duties.

The final declaration and planning outcomes of the congress will be made public tomorrow.
