DEM Party Co-Chairs condemn attacks on Duhok and Hewlêr

The Co-Chairs of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan, issued a written statement regarding the attacks carried out by Iran-affiliated forces on Duhok and Hewlêr (Erbil), which also targeted the residence of Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, in Duhok on Saturday.

“We feel deep concern and sorrow over the attacks carried out against the Kurdistan Region in recent weeks. The Iranian authorities, who described the recent attack on Hewlêr a few days ago as a ‘mistake’ and promised an investigation, must immediately provide an explanation for today’s attacks and take the necessary measures,” the statement said.

Emphasizing that the Kurdistan Region has come to these days through great sacrifices, the statement underlined that these attacks aim to draw the region into a broader climate of war and conflict.

“Against this approach that seeks to drag Kurdistan into a war environment, we will continue our struggle in solidarity, just as we have done in the past,” said the DEM Party Co-Chairs.
