SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi and Interim Government Representative Ziyad Al-Ayesh met in Hasakah, with the participation of Hesekê Governor Nureddin Ahmed and Co-Chair of the Autonomous Administration’s Department of Foreign Relations Ilham Ahmed, to discuss the implementation of the provisions of the January 29 Agreement.
During the meeting, a number of important issues were addressed regarding the implementation of the agreement’s provisions, including the release of prisoners and detainees from both sides. The importance of continuing this process, which strengthens trust between the two parties and supports efforts to stabilize the region, was also emphasized. The meeting was reported to have been positive.
The parties discussed the return of forcibly displaced people to their homes and the facilitation of institutional integration processes, highlighting steps already taken in this context.
It was noted that today’s amnesty decision was a direct result of this meeting, supporting efforts to ensure stability and foster a positive atmosphere.
The situation of families displaced from Serekaniye was also discussed, and it was stated that efforts are underway to ensure their safe and orderly return after the holiday. At the same time, it was announced that a group of families displaced from Afrin will return to their homes after the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
