The base belonging to the 52nd Brigade of the Turkmen Hashd al-Shaabi, located between the district of Khurmatu and the town of Sulayman Beg, was bombed three times yesterday evening by armed drones. According to some claims, the attack was allegedly carried out by Peshmerga forces.
The Peshmerga Ministry of the Kurdistan Regional Government issued a statement regarding these allegations.
The ministry stated that Peshmerga forces were not part of the military clashes occurring in the region and said that some media outlets and pages had published “false” reports claiming that Peshmerga forces were behind the attack on a Hashd al-Shaabi base in Salahaddin province.
The ministry strongly rejected these allegations and stated: “Peshmerga forces are in no way a party to the military chaos and conflicts occurring in the region. The Peshmergas have not participated in any military activity against any side.”
The statement also emphasized that the main duty of the Peshmerga forces is to maintain security and stability.
The ministry also noted that the Peshmerga Ministry is in coordination and communication with the Iraqi security forces.
