Kongra Star has launched a signature campaign demanding clarification about the fate of the disappeared and the detained people. The campaign, which began on March 12, will continue until March 17. It was stated that the results of the campaign will be shared with the public and international institutions on March 18, the International Day of Political Prisoners.
Rûken Ehmed, a member of the Kongra Star Democratic Politics Alliance and Relations Committee, stated that thousands of people went missing during attacks carried out between January 6 and January 29, 2026, against the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiye neighborhoods of Aleppo as well as the regions of Deir Hafir, Tabqa, Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, and Rojava Kurdistan.
Ehmed said: “Although the interim government in Damascus told SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi that they have 1,070 detainees with them, the number is much higher. It reaches 4,000 people.”
Ehmed stated that the aim of the campaign is to convey the call of the families of the detainees and the public to international institutions and to create international pressure. She added that investigation and accountability committees must be established, the International Red Cross must gain access to prisons, and international guarantees must be created for the process.
Various allegations of violations were included in the campaign text of Kongra Star. These include failure to comply with agreements made with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), attacks on civilians and arbitrary killings, and the concealment of the fate of thousands of people in prisons linked to security units.
Demands
Within the scope of the campaign, a call was made to institutions such as the International Red Cross, the United Nations, Human Rights Organizations, and the CPT, with the following demands:
Transparent clarification of the fate of missing and forcibly disappeared persons

The establishment of an independent international investigation commission

It was stated that those who wish to support the campaign electronically can sign by sending their name, profession, and place of residence to petition_kongra_star@disroot.org.
